I do it based on looks really. I pick male warriors and monks, since I don't really like how the female ones look like. However, I pick female elementalists, rangers and mesmers over male ones simply based on kicks.

I'm male and I have 3 male characters and 5 female characters.

I started out all guys, but then I started making all female because they are just more entertaining to look at...

How is a female ranger bad looking???? The female Ranger Hench in Tombs is the hottest I've ever seen in the game.

IMO, monks/warriors look better as male
Eles/mesmers look better as female
necros/rangers no preference

Female characters always look better. Three of my characters are female and my main one is male.

I usually play a monk, nicer to look at, nicer models, and they dance better

I have no problems with males playing with female chars, and vice versa. However, one thing does crop up that ruins the enjoyment of the game for me time and time again, and that is that it totally takes the illusion of the game and the environment away from you. What i'm trying to say is, when a female warrior tells you that they are a 16 y.o from wherever it totally takes the immersion of gw away, and that gets to me from time to time. But I do value the peoples reasons for using various different characters, but if there was a reason that annoys me, that would be it.

I have a male ele > Female Monk> Female Warrior > Male Necro

I use the females cause they look cooler in the armors, Like I use my ele to let that guy rage out when i want to destroy and level stuff, the Necro....well hell anyone see a guy necro dance knows its reson enough.

My female Monk is just plain cute. She has the girl next door thing goin on as I often have her refered to "pick the hot monk." or "Damn, ur hot!" I think its the off the shoulder wander top i use that adds to the innocence.

The warrior? Well the warrior guys look fat, so i have the option of either seeing a fat warriors backside or a hot red headed warrior babe with a perfect hourglass figure holding a crystalline sword. grrrrrrrrr.

On a side note, I am sure only guys notice this, but when chick rangers fire their bows....they ummmm.......jiggle

I think players like myself enjoy a verioty. Just because you a Male does the the Hero Character always have to be male. I mix and match myself.

It's pretty close for monks and warriors, but yes, I think the males look better.

I play 2 female chars (warrior and necromancer) and 2 male chars (elementalist and pvp warrior). I did 2 of each just because some people mistake me for a female when I play female chars. And the male models dont look good (the ele and warrior especially).

Well, I just picked up a die and rolled it. 3 odd, 1 even = 3 female, 1 male. On the whole though, I'd just say what so many others have said... if you're going to be looking at an ass for hours on end, pick out a nice ass for yourself.

And please, please, don't do anything stupid. It's almost like a don't ask, don't tell philosphy - I don't give a RED ENGINE whether you're male or female in real life, just as long as you can demolish that hydra over there.
